Dear Representative Hurd,

As Congress considers FY26 appropriations, I urge you to continue to support programs that protect Americans from extreme weather threats and strengthen our emergency preparedness. Proposed cuts to NCAR programs put these needs at risk by limiting critical research in weather and earth science that contribute to our understanding of agriculture, floods, wildfires, and more.

Please reject proposed cuts and maintain funding for NCAR in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies funding bill throughout the appropriations process.
